2 Missing As Heavy Rain Causes Cloudburts in Dehradun; Shops Washed Away 

Dehradun Red Alert: Heavy rains wrecked havoc in Dehradun. Reportedly, two people have been missing as heavy rainfall caused a massive cloudburst in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun today morning, causing major destruction and washing away shops and cars. The cloudburst incident of cloudburst late at night after heavy rains in Dehradun's Sahastradhara. 

Rescue Operations in Dehradun

Reportedly, the administration has started the rescue and relief operations in the region. Meanwhile, NDRF and SDRF teams havebeen reportedly deployed in the flood affected areas. Due to the heavy rainfall in the region, authorities have announced closure of schools from class 1 to 12.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's Statement

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is constantly monitoring the situation. ''Some shops have been damaged due to heavy rain in Sahastradhara, Dehradun, late last night. District administration, SDRF, and police have reached the spot and are engaged in relief and rescue operations. I am constantly in touch with the local administration in this regard and am personally monitoring the situation,” he said CM Dhami in his post on X.

''Damage have been reported from Sahastradhara and Mal Devta in Dehradun, and also from Mussoorie. Two to three people are said to be missing in Dehradun. A death has been reported from Mussoorie and is being verified," disaster management secretary Vinod Kumar Suman told PTI.

Heavy rainfall in Dehradun, reportedly lead to Tamsa river swell and inundated the Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple, which is one of the city's most popular shrines. 

Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple Submerged

Due to heavy rains, the Tamsa river is in spate and the Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple has been submerged. Talking to ANI, temple priest Acharya Bipin Joshi said, "The river started flowing heavily since 5 AM, the entire temple premises were submerged... This kind of situation had not taken place in a very long time... Losses have been incurred at various places... People should avoid going near rivers at this time... The sanctum sanctorum of the temple is safe... No human loss has been reported as of now..."

PM and Home Minister Reviewed the Situation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah today spoke to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami over the phone and asked about the current situation arising due to heavy rains in Uttarakhand.

He assured all possible help and emphasized that the central government is with Uttarakhand in this hour of crisis. Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, Chief Minister Dhami said that the administration is active in the affected areas and rescue and relief operations are being done.
